IIWII: VIII It Is What It Is: Eight. Ladies and Gents: If the video is playing AS YOU READ THIS, pause it! I am not getting younger. I promise I will not say this again, BUT... as I near my 40th b-day this year it occurs to me that I am no spring chicken, at least as far as juggling goes. Don't get me wrong: I have other abilities! I could, for example, run 10 miles right now if I had to. (I could also prepare brussel sprouts in a tasty manner without the use of a printed recipe.) Still, I am determined to keep at it, this juggling 'thing'. It is a passion that has been the ultimate source of no less than two (2!) permanent tattoos upon my body for cryin' out loud!. As such, I have a very, very, very long list I keep of tricks I still want to nail. In fact, I have a notebook full of them. Just ask my wife.... This particular vid, then, represents my attempts to check SOME of those tricks off the list. Not all of the tricks ("moves" for my WJF peeps) on that list are "hard" per se, but some are, for me at least. Some tricks on that list are merely my attempts to be creative. In this video, for example, I pulled off a TWO ball @ss catch (bam!) at 0:16. Some are my homage to people I've seen do a trick that I really like (witness the 4 club balance transfer at 1:03 or the 3 club chin hop whilst juggling move at 2:04). Some are relatively small things that I just want to have documented for my own sake-- like the 5 ball 744 here at 1:42 OR the repeat of the 4 club 4up 360 at 2:22 with a full and proper qualify after the fact. Other tricks are ones that are in the works-- like the 4 club scisorr-ish move at 0:48. Some tricks on my list are listed only because they are needed to get at bigger moves. This is the case with the current version of the single club carry-through of the reverse backcross at 1:14 .(Reverse backcrosses, you will be mine!!!! Awwrrr!!!!) I think a lot of my vids in 2010 will be this way and I am okay with that. As this song suggests in its title, this is me in "the skin I'm in." It's easy to chuck stuff out there into the digital wasteland. To have anyone actually watch it is another matter entirely.
